THE COMMUNITY CAST

"Supporting communities to create the cast to tell their own stories and mould their futures"

OUR MISSION

Who we are and what we do

The Community Cast aims to amplify the voices of communities by supporting them to create the cast through which they can own their stories and mould their futures. We provide training and support for people and groups to mould the conversation around their successes and the issues affecting them.Through building relationships with residents and community groups we aim to support and enable them to create awareness, and generate conversations, about the issues which matter most.Using a combination of cocreated methods built around digital, journalistic and media practices we work alongside and empower a diverse range of individuals and community groups.Using digital and traditional media training we work with people and their communities to provide access to learning outside of conventional educational routes, as well as working alongside existing organisations with the aim of place making. The Community Cast is intent on highlighting socially significant impacts, while reducing the digital skills divide, through training communities to tell their own stories with their own voice and take control of their future’s narrative".  Adam Gratton, Founder of The Community Cast

TESTIMONIALS

STAFFORDSHIRE UNIVERSITY (KEEP TALKING PROJECT)

Adam's work on the Staffordshire University podcast "Keep Talking" created a platform for a meaningful insight into the experiences of Community Researchers, allowing their experiences and stories to be amplified, as well as shining a spotlight into areas which previously may have remained hidden. Adam's expertise allowed all aspects of the podcast to be completed with ease, including arranging interviews, recording sessions, editing, and publishing each episode.I look forward to working with Adam again in the future, to deliver creative outputs with great impacts" (Ryan Fox, Staffordshire University Reasearch Team

ALL THE SMALL THINGS CIC ( UNDER ONE ROOF PROJECT)

I recently worked with Adam Gratton to support the development of a professional podcast series and a considerable technical consultation aimed at delivering a community podcast programme as part of a large heritage project. His technical knowledge was excellent scoping all of the needs for a broadcast quality series, providing essential market information and evaluation, and producing a report and guidance information to enable the production of the work.In addition he consulted with community groups and individuals through a focus group that he assembled for the programme. This level of participation in the design of a future project was essential to its success, and his evaluation of the process provided excellent information to the wider project team and funders as to the validity or the proposal.I have no reservations in recommending Adam Gratton and his consultancy work. Adam is that rare combination between extremely professional and capable, and highly personable and approachable which makes his practice in the social sector highly valuable. British Ceramics Biennial

We worked with Adam as part of our Recast programme, working in partnership with Stoke Recovery Service, in 2022/23.Adam recorded a series of 5 podcasts for us. Adam was a pleasure to work with and the podcasts that he created exceeded our expectations. He made all of the interviewees feel relaxed, and as a direct consequence of his warm approach to questioning, they shared meaningful and insightful perspectives on the programme. He planned the content with both myself, the BCB Studio and Community Programme Manager, and SRS’ Service Manager, Vicky Lomas, prior to each recording. He was able to attend all of the dates that we suggested, and worked very quickly – getting the edits back to us within a couple of weeks. Adam was able to react well to circumstances, for example, the final podcast was recorded at our exhibition launch, with over 100 people in attendance.I would highly recommend Adam and Your Community Cast.
